Singer musician poet from Martinique, Roland Brival has this deep soulful voice reminding Jon Lucien. Released in 1980, Créole Gypsy has a wonderful afro caribbean fusion jazz approach that blends warm electric keyboards, synth, gwo ka, percussion, heavy funky bass and drums, trumpet, acoustic guitar all infused with the suave voice of Brival. Some tracks are in English, others are in French Creole, and the whole album has got spiritual feel, titles include the delightful "Creole Gypsy", the funky gwo ka "Abcd", the latin spiritual Tunji, the Fender jazz funk monster on Just For You and the afro centric Chaj Mile-a. Now extremely hard to find. The true holy grail of French West Indies Jazz in really nice shape. Both cover and record in strict NM / NM. Ask for more infos.
