Michel Marre - Fanny

I just received some stock copies of this underrated little known album by the great Michel Marre (Cossi Anatz / Intercommunal Free Dance Orchestra) he privately recorded it in 1987 with 2 percussionists from Mahgreb, Lahcen Hilari (Cossi Anatz) & Azzedine Amara while Michel plays Trumpets / Tubas / Piano / Bass and Accordion.
While the sleeve looks more like an odd synth pop lp than spiritual jazz album don’t be misunderstood this Fanny is clearly a superb World Jazz record. Don’t miss out Djerba with this head nodding derbuka pattern and sharp and clear trumpet solo ... so deep. Matansa on B side is another winner with an insane accordion hook ! But the whole album is really consistant with deep tunes like Salaam Li Anissa or Lila between RaÏ and Jazz, Fanny, Y'en a qui baillent . Check the long audio of this superb overlooked Occitan/Arabic Jazz gem ! Stock copies direct from the artist, vinyl is EX (light storage warp) close to NM. Sleeve is NM.
