Moravagine - s/t

Outstanding funky jazz from France on the private label Promophone by the former leader of Chute Libre Olivier Hutman on piano, featuring Denis Barbier on flute, Pierre-Jean Gidon on sax, Jean-Marie Laumonnier, JP Lobrot on drums, Mino Cinelu on percussion. This underrated Lp reveals an amazing blending of influences, from afro jazz to funk, to samba, even going free sometimes. Just check the funky flute and accordeon of Funky Seven the huge basslines and solos on Andromede & Culbuto, the fabulous Ruhenol definitely sounding like Cortex Troupeau Bleu, Usted De Poisson and the spacy jazz Zabuco. Simply one of my favorite deep jazz album. NM / NM copy.
